Over the weekend, Maneema Muay Thai was proud to compete at the Siam to Sydney Royal Thai Consulate Cup, an amateur Muay Thai tournament held at Ryde Club.
This prestigious amateur tournament brought together some of the best emerging Muay Thai fighters from across NSW — and our very own Shallen delivered an unforgettable performance, taking home the gold medal in her division 67kg.
From Setbacks to Triumph
Shallen’s journey hasn’t been straightforward. Her first fight camp ended in a last-minute cancellation, and when she finally stepped into the ring for her official debut, she suffered a close decision loss.
Instead of discouraging her, that result humbled her and sparked an even greater hunger to improve. With each training session at Maneema Muay Thai, Shallen refined her technique, built her endurance, and developed the mental toughness needed to come back stronger.
Gold at the Royal Thai Consulate Cup
This tournament was only her second time in the ring — but she showed just how far she had come.
Over two fights in one day, Shallen adjusted each round, listening carefully to Coach Pong’s corner advice. Her teeps and elbows kept opponents on the back foot, her clinch showed growing strength, and her improved fight IQ allowed her to stay composed even when taking punches.
Two victories later, a gold medal that symbolises resilience, growth, and determination.
Maneema Muay Thai’s Fighting Spirit
Shallen’s progress highlights what makes Maneema different. We are more than a gym — we’re a community dedicated to authentic Thai training, supporting members whether their goal is fitness, self-defence, or stepping into the ring.
